Apple’s AirPods have been one of their biggest successes in recent years. But successes never last and consumer expectations have continued to increase waiting to see what the new iteration of the AirPods would include. After all, it has been more than two years since the original AirPods made their debut. Added to this was the details Apple shared back when they announced the AirPower. Back then, we were told that wireless charging and an external indicator light would be part of the new AirPod model.
The latest details from DigiTimes tells us two things. The first is that the new AirPods will launch in the first half of 2019. This could be true and would line up nicely with the AirPower launch also.
The second is that they will feature a redesign to incorporate health monitoring capabilities in the new model. Whilst that’s not a new concept (previously reported by other analysts), this is now a supply chain report. At the moment there isn’t much detail on what these health monitoring capabilities could include but the addition of motion and activity sensors is probably the most likely.
